Earlier this year it became clear Tom Cruise has come up with a new challenge: recording a film (or part of it) in space. He has already collected a budget of at least $ 200 million and now his space trip is actually planned. The 58-year-old adrenaline junkie will team up with Elon Musk’s NASA and SpaceX to make ambition a reality. The official Space Shuttle Almanac Twitter channel revealed when Cruise was shot into space.
So its confirmed that @OrderMLA is flying the @Axiom_Space @SpaceX #CrewDragon tourist mission with Director @DougLiman & Tom Cruise. One seat still to be filled. They are to launch in October, 2021. pic.twitter.com/dn6SLvCOGz

The message makes it clear that Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria, who holds two NASA spacewalk records, will pilot the Axiom Space Station on a tourist mission in 2021. Among those “tourists” are Cruise and director Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow).
Incidentally, there is still one place not staffed. So it could just be that an actor or crew member takes to the air with it. Percent of the movie is Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible).
