The Eiffel Tower was evacuated after a bomb threat, local media are advancing. Parisian police cordoned off the Tower on Wednesday morning, as teams specializing in deactivating bombs swept the area.
The alert was given by a citizen who called the police, reporting that an explosive had been placed in the Eiffel Tower.
The French journalist Amaury Bucco, in his social networks, realized that the “perimeter of the Eiffel Tower was isolated, police operation in progress”. “A man threatens to blow everything up”, he reinforced.
The entire area surrounding the monument is being carefully monitored and traffic is being redirected, keeping people from the whole area at bay.

The local TV station BFM Paris said that the police received an anonymous phone call around noon, local time, alleging that a bomb had been left at the monument, which immediately mobilized armed agents to the place and led to the isolation of the area.
It is recalled that, given the restrictive measures imposed by the pandemic of the new coronavirus, the Eiffel Tower only reopened recently – with limited numbers – after having been closed for three months.
In ‘normal’ times, about 25,000 people climb to the top of the Tower, at a level of 906 feet, every day. More than 250 million people have visited this French icon since its construction in 1889.
