Indonesian Republicans Covid-19 Made in China: Technology Cannot Afford

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Molecular biologist Ahmad Rusdan Handoyo stated corona virus The SARS-CoV-2 that caused the Coivid-19 pandemic was not man-made. He said there was no technology capable of engineering the corona virus.

Ahmad’s statement at the same time denied allegations by Chinese virologist who fled to the United States, Li Meng Yan about the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus as made by scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, China.

“SARS-CoV-2 shows that the existing data shows that human technology has not arrived,” said Ahmad in a video uploaded to his personal YouTube account, Tuesday (23/9).

Ahmad said the report made by Yan and his colleagues was logically inconsistent. For example, he admitted that he was surprised why Yan accused SARS-CoV of causing Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) as the basis for making the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus.

Because, he called the amino acids in SARS-CoV-1 weak. Thus, it is not optimal to bind Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) in the human body.

“So the question is, when using computer modeling, why do humans use computer modeling results whose predictions are weak? This is a big question,” he said.

Furthermore, Ahmad confirmed that humans today can do many things. However, humans have not been able to do modeling well. In fact, the amino acids in SARS-CoV-2 are actually 10 times stronger than SARS-CoV-1.

“This might explain that Covid-19 can easily replicate in the upper respiratory cavity. Because, once it sticks to the upper breath, it has enough hooks, it can grow there,” said Ahmad.

“Meanwhile, for SARS-CoV-1, because it is weaker, it has to go down first to the lungs, then it can replicate there,” he said.

On the other hand, Ahmad views Yan as an inconsistent figure because he accuses others and seems to force his report. Additionally, he disagrees that the furin in SARS-CoV-2 was engineered.

In fact, he said that the furin in SARS-CoV-2 could have come from other organisms and not something unique.

Not only that, Ahmad emphasized that the corona virus can experience 20 mutations per year. So, the differences between SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 can be very large.

In fact, he called the RaTG13 bat corona virus, which Yan accused of being untrue, was wrong. Because, he also said RaTG13 has a difference of up to 4 percent with SARS-CoV-2.

“It could be that SARS-CoV-2 actually existed, maybe even 50 to 70 years ago it started to exist from the evolution of ordinary mutations,” said Ahmad.

More than that, Ahmad claimed to agree with other Chinese researchers who said that the mutation of the corona virus was a result of the habit of Chinese citizens eating exotic animals, such as bats.

“So, the more often humans interact with the wild animals, it’s just a matter of waiting for the statistics. By chance, they will find suitable variations, one of which is SARS-CoV-2,” he said.

“So what does this show? Phylogenetically it is not man-made. Nature shows extraordinary natural variations,” said Ahmad.
