The British government is partly tightening measures against the corona virus. All cafes and restaurants in England must close by 10 pm on Thursday and only people with a table may still be served.
With the new measures, the British government wants to contain the new wave of infections. The number of corona cases is on the rise in Great Britain. Prime Minister Johnson is addressing the British people on the situation tonight. He is expected to emphasize, among other things, that people should keep their distance and wash their hands regularly. The British newspaper The Telegraph reports that Johnson will also call for working from home as much as possible again.
Yesterday, the UK government’s chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, warned that infections could reach tens of thousands per day by mid-October. “If this continues, and this is a really big if, it doubles every seven days. Then you get to about 50,000 cases a day by mid-October.”
