The Region of Murcia opens the deadline for participation in the new VTC regulation
Murcia has opened the period for public consultation of the new regulations on Transport Vehicles with Driver (VTC).
Last Saturday the regulation was published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM).
This new regulation will be available on the Transparency Portal of the Region of Murcia and interested parties will be able to present their allegations over the next 30 days.
The general director of Mobility and Litoral, Marina Munuera, recalled that the regional Executive complies with the commitments with the taxi employers to establish a regulatory framework in the Region that guarantees to provide the best service to users, establish a space that allows competition in conditions equality, avoid intrusion into the sector and move towards the digitization of services.
The regional project contemplates that the VTC service may only be performed by those who have administrative authorization, which will refer to each of the vehicles with which the service is provided.
Mandatory breaks
Holders of VTC authorizations may provide the service personally or by hiring salaried drivers. Likewise, VTC drivers must keep the employment contract, working hours and overtime record, in addition to having a valid driving license.
The municipalities may demand additional qualification requirements from the drivers of the vehicles.
Another of the measures included in this regulation is the one that requires a mandatory minimum weekly rest of two days for VTC vehicles.
In addition, once a service is finished, VTC vehicles will not be able to circulate on public roads in search of customers and must park in car parks other than the roads.
It also states that the prices for the provision of the service will be public and the charging of supplements is prohibited to avoid abuse.
VTC vehicle services must be pre-contracted at least 15 minutes in advance, except in emergencies.
These services will be reported to the VTC Services Communications Registry.
Likewise, the use of vehicles with alternative or hybrid energies will be encouraged when it is necessary to replace one of the vehicles currently assigned with VTC authorization.
