Luis Suarez – Jan Oblak – Barcelona – Atletico Madrid
Club Atletico Madrid reached an agreement with Barcelona striker Luis Suarez on the personal terms, according to a report published by the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”.
The report said that if conditions allowed for a final agreement to join him, the deal would be concluded, but Atletico Madrid needed to sell some players.
Atletico Madrid has offered a two-season contract to the Uruguayan international striker, who will be 34 in January.
The report pointed out that one of the factors that made the striker decide to join Atletico was Miguel Angel Gil Martin, executive director of Atlético, because he is in constant contact with him and Diego Simeone, the coach of the team, to make sure that he wants to join the club 100%.
As for Barcelona, the Catalan club wants to ensure that the player’s salary is disposed of during the next season, which is the only season remaining in his contract with Barcelona. The Catalan club seeks, according to the report, not to lose money.
On the other hand, the report indicated that Suarez wants Barcelona to pay for the full year remaining in his contract with him, and the Catalan club rejected that matter altogether.
The other problem is that Barcelona currently does not want their player to leave for free at the moment.
A third problem is for Atletico Madrid to get rid of Diego Costa because of his estimated salary of 8 million euros, and the time is very short to finish this file completely, because currently there are no suitable offers for the player, as far from the interest of Venerbacha there is no official step to join him.
“It will take a long time for Suarez to get his passport, so it is difficult to be a Juventus striker,” Pirlo said at the press conference on the eve of the Sampdoria match in the opening round of the Italian league, which his team won 3-0.
The 33-year-old striker had arrived in Perugia, Italy, last Thursday, to take an Italian language test and successfully passed it in order to obtain an Italian passport that would enable him to play with the Bianconeri shirt.
Suarez said earlier, in a very brief statement, to the question of the newspaper “La Gazzetta dello Sport” while leaving Italy about joining Juventus, “Yes, it is possible that the transfer will take place.”
Suarez was linked by Spanish reports to the possibility of joining the ranks of Atletico Madrid.
The question remains, why did Suarez undergo this test?
The Uruguay striker was on his way to Juventus who had completed the number of foreign players he had on his list so Suárez had to be treated like the Italian player.
Suarez’s wife has Italian citizenship, which gives him the opportunity to obtain an Italian passport, provided he is fluent in the Italian language.
Italian regulations stipulate that each team has the right to include 12 foreign players from outside the European Union.
Suarez played for Barcelona in 283 matches in all competitions, during which he scored 198 goals and made 109 others.
