The 169 meter long ship Amorella transported passengers from the Finnish Turku to the Swedish capital Stockholm. Due to the corona crisis, there were far fewer people on board than usual. The ship normally carries about 1800 to 2000 passengers, says an employee of the shipping company.
Problems on board
Local media reports that the captain allegedly let the ship run aground due to problems on board. It is still unclear what exactly happened. Passengers have put on life jackets and gather on the deck. The emergency services are preparing to get people off board.
