The Supercar Sunday event, which was held on Sunday at the Zandvoort circuit, has been halted prematurely. More visitors came than expected, NH Nieuws reports.
As soon as it became more difficult to maintain a sufficient distance with the visitor steam, the circuit decided to close the entrance gates after consultation with the municipality of Zandvoort and the safety region. The program was subsequently also stopped prematurely. It was also busy outside the event area of the circuit. Complaints have already been made via Twitter about heavy traffic at the circuit.
According to a spokesperson for the municipality, the circuit has done well by halting the event. “It is very good that they are taking their responsibility,” he tells NH Nieuws.
The Kennemerland region, which includes Zandvoort, has been designated by the government as a corona risk area. Stricter measures will therefore apply from Sunday evening. For example, meetings with more than 50 people are no longer always allowed and the catering industry must also close earlier.
