The new version of Skype has become available to all users

Microsoft has begun distributing a new version of the Skype application. We are talking about the Skype 8.64 update, which mainly consists of general fixes and is already available to all users.

The update is not a major one as it only brings one new feature: users can now add emoji to the Quick Access Toolbar. To do this, just click the “Customize” button, after which you can transfer the most frequently used emojis to the panel so that you can always have quick access to them. This feature works in all versions of Skype for different platforms.

In addition, the developers have changed some of the keyboard shortcuts used in the application to address application crashes. Another innovation concerns Skype for iOS. Now users of the iOS version of the app can share content with Skype contacts directly from the sharing panel. The rest of the changes that users receive with Skype 8.64 will not be noticeable, as they are general fixes and stability improvements. The update is rolling out gradually, so if it’s not available to you right now, you should wait.

Recall: a fresh version of the application came out about two months after the launch of Skype 8.62, which added support for changing backgrounds in the desktop version, and also added a new type of grid for video calls. As for the version of Skype 8.63, it was released a few weeks ago and consisted entirely of bug fixes and did not bring any new features.
