Today, 53 departments have exceeded this threshold and are therefore classified in this famous zone of active circulation of the virus “, continued Olivier Véran.
“In some areas, especially in some cities, we are already well beyond. […] The President of the Republic and the Prime Minister wished that the greatest transparency be made and that predictability be given to each and every one of you. This is what I am doing here by indicating the territorial situations which worry us and which will have to be the subject of decisions next week if the health situation does not improve in these territories. “
For the first time, he communicated figures for several metropolises. Until now, only departmental data were communicated. In Dijon, the incidence rate is 140 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is less than in Marseille (279 per 100,000) or Bordeaux (201 per 100,000) but it is as much as in Paris. The incidence rate for the elderly alone reaches 45 per 100,000 in the prefecture of Côte-d’Or.

In addition, “if the health situation does not improve” in Marseille and Guadeloupe, where measures have already been adopted, “it will undoubtedly be necessary to take even stronger measures”, warned Olivier Véran, citing “the possible closure of bars” or “the ban on public gatherings”.
