Benchmark Results for iPhone 12 Pro Max Leaked, Lose from Android

Jakarta

Apple didn’t announce iPhone 12 at the Time Flies event some time ago. But they have announced a chipset Apple A14 Bionic which will power the latest generation flagship cellphone.

In its announcement, Apple claims that the A14 Bionic chipset has a CPU that is 17% faster and a GPU that is 8% faster than its predecessor. From the leaked benchmark results, it looks like the claim didn’t go too far.

Quoted detikINET from GSM Arena, Friday (18/9/2020) the results of the iPhone 12 Pro Max benchmark test at AnTuTu revealed that the A14 chipset has a CPU score that is 16% higher and a GPU score that is 4% better than the A13.

The improvement that looks quite significant is the memory speed which is 22% faster than its predecessor, but overall the performance improvement is not that big.

From the results of these benchmarks, iPhone 12 Pro Max has an overall score of 572,333. This figure tends to be low compared to Android flagship phones with Snapdragon 865+ which usually record AnTuTu scores of up to 600,000 and above.

But comparing the benchmark results between platforms is somewhat unbalanced because there are differences in how the tasks on each platform are done.

The comparison of the benchmark results with the A13 should be even more relevant and show that this 5nm chipset is not bringing the performance boost that many predict. There are several theories that explain this phenomenon.

First, Apple may have prioritized battery life over faster performance, so the A14 could use less power but still achieve the same fast performance.

This is most likely because the iPad Air 4, which is the first to use the A14 Bionic, has the same battery life as its predecessor even though the cell size is 8% smaller.

Besides, it could be a unit iPhone 12 Pro Max the samples tested, and the final product will have much better performance. But if Apple does claim a performance increase that is not much different from the benchmark results, it looks like it’s a little impossible.
