There will be extra targeted checks at party halls, sports halls and student societies. Town halls, libraries and swimming pools open at certain hours to people who are more at risk, such as the elderly. Trade associations, museums and shops are also asked to do this for vulnerable groups.

In addition to Rotterdam, the Rotterdam-Rijnmond Safety Region includes Schiedam, Vlaardingen, Westvoorne and Lansingerland.

Hollands-Midden is also putting on reins

Municipalities in the Hollands-Midden region will check places where the risk of contamination with the corona virus is greatest. This concerns the catering industry in general, catering at sports and other associations, schools, holiday recreation and young people. The security region announced these and other measures on Friday, in addition to the new rules previously announced by the cabinet.

According to the safety region, stricter enforcement is necessary because the weather is getting worse and the risks are therefore greater. People are also encouraged to observe the general rules in public life, such as in shops, sports canteens and restaurants. This involves, for example, disinfecting hands, keeping a distance of 1.5 meters and paying attention to arrows and other markings.

Government locations such as town halls, libraries and swimming pools can start working with window times for vulnerable groups. Other organizations, such as supermarkets and museums, are also encouraged to set this up.

Furthermore, when it comes to nursing and care homes, the region is committed to prevention of infection. “Vigilance in complying with the rules is vital here.”

There are eighteen locations in the Hollands-Midden safety region, including Leiden, Gouda, Zoeterwoude, Katwijk and Waddinxveen.
