“It’s noon and I’m just queuing at one of the five consumption points in Liberec,” a TV Nova reporter described the beginning of the “mission”. The queue is estimated at 300 meters. People know that they will lose a substantial part of the day by waiting. And so they have fun in a variety of ways.
“I also brought a chair because I received information that there were queues here and that the system was stuck,” said one of the waiting women. Another man “armed himself” with a book by horror master Stephen King. And he hoped he wouldn’t read it before it was his turn.
Several other people waiting to take a sample complained in unison that even though they had been in line for several hours, the line was almost motionless. “We have been standing here for exactly an hour now. We have covered some 50 meters and another 250 in front of us,” the reporter reported from the scene.
In front, the supply team solves a big problem. “There has been a failure of the system that processes the requests. For the whole republic. And unfortunately, it took three hours before the new system was introduced,” sighed Matouš Novotný, a student at the University of Liberec and a paramedic.
“Hospitals have to improvise printouts and fill them out in another system so that they don’t have to refuse patients. They don’t know if it’s their turn today. Nervousness is rising, some are giving up,” the reporter described the atmosphere.
“I should go to work, make money, I can’t stand here like a trumpet! We’re preparing a mass lawsuit, and the information is coming to the fore, what a strange game is being played here,” one of those waiting was angry.
The sampling point is to be closed at one afternoon. Nothing like that happens. On the contrary – paramedics strengthen the team. Supposedly to serve the maximum number of people, ideally everyone who came for sampling.
“After two hours, it’s finally our turn,” the reporter reported. Despite an unintentional outage, medics managed to take 300 samples from the morning and did not have to send anyone home.
