Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investation Luhut Binsar Panjaitan admits that it is difficult to deal with the health problems that occur due to the pandemic covid-19 balance it by keeping the economy.
This problem can be seen from the phenomenon that has occurred recently. He said the cause of the increase in positive cases of the corona virus was due to loosening of economic activity that was not balanced with community discipline.
He said that if it is balanced with community discipline, a balance between maintaining the economy and health can be achieved.
“Tightening the handling of covid-19 by paying attention to the balance between the tightness of covid and a moving economy is not easy, but if it is done together, it will be possible,” he said through a press conference regarding the handling of covid-19 in 8 Indonesian Provinces, Friday (18/9).
Furthermore, he said that maintaining a balance between health and economic aspects is an art that must be maintained side by side with science while waiting for the completion of the covid-19 vaccine.
The art must be done at a critical time or critical time handling covid that occurred until the vaccine is ready to be injected by the end of this year.
He admitted that there was an increase in cases in September when compared to the previous month. However, he warned that this was in line with increasing the cure rate.
“But this context is so open to the economy and it opens up even greater, we are not disciplined. It seems that the death and infection rates are increasing, we will tighten it again. This is the art of maintaining a balance in handling Covid and the economy,” he continued.
On the same occasion, Luhut also said that he and other cross-ministries such as the Ministry of Health were formulating steps to encourage people to comply with health protocols.
Luhut said that the formulation would be announced next week.
