Quality of life
Every year, the Northern Platform for Disabled Care makes a sum of € 10,000 available to one of the members of the platform. The NPGZ aims with the award to stimulate an improvement in the quality of life of people with a disability.
Everyone speaks the language of music
With its PhiLaLa program, Philadelphia also gets the best out of the people it supports through music. Lotte van Opstal, PhiLaLa program manager: “We believe in the power of music, because everyone speaks the language of music. And that goes beyond the ‘nice feeling’ that music often gives to people. It is a good tool that helps introverted clients, for example, learn to make better contact with others. Or to grow someone’s self-confidence. And of course as an outlet for emotions. That is why we use music in daily care. The incentive prize is a recognition for us that music is a valuable instrument in the care of the disabled. ”
Music works like this! Open to everyone from 16 November
In the coming period, the method will be tested by health care workers from Philadelphia to remove the teething problems. On November 16, Music works like this! available to everyone from the website www.philadelphia.nl/muziek. Van Opstal: “We think it is important that the user thinks carefully about what he wants to achieve with the use of music in healthcare. If you work with Music like this! to get started, you will first be asked to choose which target group you work with and then what you want to achieve. Do you want to help someone make contact, reminisce or influence the mood, for example? After the selection you will find music activities, songs, methods, scientific information and videos. ”
The method was developed by Philadelphia behavioral experts, music therapists and music coaches.
