The carmaker came up with an electric version of the Citigo minivan last year. From the beginning of the year to July this year, it delivered 6,400 cars to customers worldwide.

“The high interest in the Citigoe iV exceeded our expectations and confirmed more than the competitive price and quality of the first fully electric Škoda car. Sellers in all markets used up their quotas earlier than planned, which is why we were forced to close the receipt of orders, “said Pavel Jína, a spokesman for Škoda ČR.

At the beginning of September, Škoda introduced the brand new Enyaq electric car. He should reach the first customers before the end of the year. The offer of cars with an electric motor is complemented by plug-in hybrids Superb and Octavia, which have already been ordered by over 200 customers. The batteries of these cars, which have, in addition to the electric motor, also a normal internal combustion engine, can be recharged from an external source.

The Octavia will also be offered in a mild hybrid version, ie with a battery with a lower capacity, which only serves as a support for the internal combustion engine. The alternative drives for the Škoda are complemented by the natural gas version, which is also available in the Scala and Kamiq models in addition to the Octavia.

“We expect the popularity of electrified cars to continue to grow. We anticipate that plug-in hybrid technologies in the Octavia iV and Superb iV and the recently introduced Enyaq iV will make a significant contribution to this. In the Octavia model today, we offer the widest portfolio of aggregates of all time, “said Jiří Maláček, Director of the Czech Representation.

The superb currently accounts for 12 percent of newly registered plug-in hybrid iV cars. For the Octavia, around five percent of the newly registered cars are occupied by the G-Tec natural gas version every year.
