Starting a right-handed central defender (ex-defensive midfielder) at left-back looked a lot like a bad idea. No surprise for the player trained at Boca Juniors, who had evolved only once in this position (with the reserve of Borussia Dortmund): he appeared very borrowed from each of his defensive interventions, first against Bouanga, then Aouchiche , because the Argentinian switched in the 30th minute with Sakai and finished the half as a right-back. Dangerous on two offensive heads (22, 41). Replaced by Bouna Sarr after the break.

As much energy as awkwardness: he recovers a hot ball then achieves a good cross from the left to Thauvin (12), and does not conclude two occasions where he is lonely in the axis (23, 56). Valere Germain replaced it (71). Activity, a poorly picked up Sanson center and a failed duel in the first period. In the second half, he gave Aké a caviar (54) then saw Jessy Moulin take out an almost perfect free kick (89). He is harvesting an opportunity to the right of the Saint-Etienne area, missing his center back towards Thauvin, in line with a half where he did not succeed. Exit at the break, in favor of Marley Aké. Creative at rare moments (54, 56), he did not put great intensity in his defensive folds and missed many set pieces. It’s a shame, Moulin was not particularly calm on the air trips. If the former Messin tried to bring some pep, he is above all very late on the counter which leads to Bouanga’s second goal.
