Asian wasp attacks man and dog in Vila Verde. Firefighters eliminated 60 nests
The state in which the victim is now is unknown, but she was quite mistreated due to the attack by the insects.
The first reports of primary wasps (the smallest) date back to April and May. With the arrival of summer, secondary nests, which reach more than 50 centimeters in diameter, begin to proliferate throughout the Minho.
In Vila Verde, three people have already died as a result of Asian wasp attacks, almost always because they are clearing agricultural land or cutting down trees without realizing the existence of nests.
Given a huge forest spot that combines with rural populations, the municipality of Vila Verde is the site of several daily sightings of this type of hornets.
According to data released by the Vila Verde City Council, in 2019, about 500 nests were eliminated throughout the municipality. In 200, more than a hundred hornets were already eliminated.
