Angels beat Diamondbacks at series conclusion

ANAHEIM, California, USA (AP) – Anthony Rendon hit a two-touchdown homer while Mike Trout drove in a pair of runs for the Los Angeles Angels to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-3 on Thursday night.

David Fletcher and Taylor Ward had three hits per head and the Angels took a 6-0 lead in the third inning. They had 14 hits for their ninth win in 14 games.


Jared Walsh extended his record in the Los Angeles franchise, scoring one run and producing another for the ninth game in a row.

Griffin Canning (1-3) finally achieved a victory, in his 10th start of the season. He pitched five innings, with a six-hitter ball and seven strikeouts. He accepted two races, one of which was clean.



Christina Walker had two hits and one RBI for Arizona, which won the series by scoring 18 runs combined in the first two games, both wins.

Alex Young (2-4) allowed six runs and eight hits. He didn’t survive the third inning.
