Prevent Rabies Transmission, Dispangtan Holds Vaccination

BENGKULU, BE – After receiving reports from the public regarding the terror of rabid dogs that roamed Bengkulu City and had bitten a number of residents a few days ago, the Food and Agriculture Office of Bengkulu City, Thursday (17/9) morning held vaccinations in all urban villages in the City Bengkulu.
One of them is RT 04 Dolog Housing, West Ring District, Bengkulu City.
Head of the Bengkulu City Food and Agriculture Service, Syahrul Tamzie, through the Head of Health at the Food and Agriculture Office, Auliantua Pohan, said that his party had vaccinated a number of animals, both cats and dogs.
“We will do this animal vaccination from September to December,” he said.
He explained that the efficacy of this vaccine itself would last up to one year, since the animal was given the vaccine.
“For a long period of time, which is one year, so we ask residents who have domestic animals and have not been vaccinated against rabies, to come to our office immediately,” he explained.
He said that his party had 3500 doses of anti-rabies vaccine that had been given by the Bengkulu Province Health and Animal Husbandry Office.
“However, in the vaccination process, we cannot do it en masse due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That’s why we come to the houses of residents who have pets, ”he explained.
Meanwhile, regarding the presence of stray dogs that have bitten at least 7 residents, his team and the health laboratory team have conducted a search regarding the presence of the stray dogs, but the whereabouts of these dogs have not been found.
“We are still trying to search for the dog. The public must remain vigilant until the biting dog is caught, “he added.
For that, he appealed to the public to report if they saw the dog’s presence. If the dog is caught, leave it to his party immediately.
“We ask residents to remain vigilant and if they see a potentially dangerous wild dog, report it to us immediately,” he concluded. (529)
