See and Hear has contacted Discovery’s communications director, Hanne McBride, to hear about the background for Riera and Hima being part of the regular version of the TVNorge program – and not least to hear if “Camp 71” has been put on hold. .
«Camp 71» is in fact a new extension of “71 degrees north”, where participants are limited to influencers and Youtube stars – a category that Hima and Riera had fallen into. Thus, it would not have been surprising if they appeared there.
This is how it has gone with the “Ex on the Beach” gang
– Not the first time
McBride explains that they are always looking for nice people for their programs, regardless of whether they have been in other television programs before.
– This is not the first time we have participants in “71 degrees north” who have also been in other reality shows. The fact that someone has previously been on television does not disqualify them from participating in “71 degrees north”, she continues.
Furthermore, McBride explains that when they look for participants in different formats, they use a mixture of outreach activities and application processes.
Exposed: – Serious breach of trust
– It is not important to us how we find the participants to «71 degrees north», as long as they are highly motivated to take part in the toughest trip of their lives, and they are able to convey to the camera how they feel along the way, she says, adding:
–
– We do not usually go into detail about how these casting processes take place. This is to ensure that those who apply for our programs do not try to adapt the application to what they think we want. We also do not comment on our contracts with contributors.

No money to participate
In front of See and Hear, Mario Riera probably answers the question many people ask: Why is he in «71 degrees north» and not «71 degrees north – Norway’s toughest celebrity»?
– The thing is that “71 degrees north – Norway’s toughest celebrity” had cast, and “71 degrees north” had cast, but then there was one on “71 degrees north” who had withdrawn, and then they called me and asked if I was interested in joining the tour, he explains.
– I did not get money to participate, it was not the money that was important to me when I chose to say yes to this. I did this because I want a new experience and get out of my comfort zone, he adds.
Therefore, he dislikes alcohol
Be in doubt
Helene Hima, on the other hand, explains to Se og Hør that it all started with her receiving a message on Instagram.
– They wondered if I wanted an interview with “71 degrees north”, and then I first thought that it was not so much a joke, because it is not typical for me to be part of something like that, she says, and adds that she still decided to go to the interview.
That she was to participate, she was told in a personal FaceTime conversation with host Tom Stiansen.
– I thought I could just jump in it, she says.
When asked why she thinks it was “71 degrees north” and not the celebrity version, she answers:
– I think it was like that because I’m not that big (celebrity, journ.anm), and that was what I was asked about. Then I just said yes.
Hima can tell that she, like Riera, has not been paid to participate in the TVNorge program.
