As part of the national week of rugby schools initiated by the FFR, that of Thionville / Yutz is organizing, this Saturday at the Vasquez stadium, an open day in order to introduce its sport to as many people as possible. The educators will welcome the children from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anaëlle Maitan, head of the Tygre rugby school for three years, wants this event to be one of sharing and good humor: “Our goal, she says, is that each child leaves with a smile and that he come back the following week ”.
With the health crisis, the Moselle club feared a drop in membership. But, as Anaëlle Maitan confirms, this is not the case: “The previous season, we were at 70 licensees. Since the recovery, we have already exceeded this figure. Finally, the children are demanding and want to push back the lawn. In addition, this kind of event is an opportunity to break down the prejudices that hamper the practice of this sport for parents. Rugby school is not the Top 14. “
During this day, children from 3 years old will learn to play with the ball, to catch each other and to drop to the ground. “It is around the age of 14 that they really start playing rugby with two specific training sessions on Tuesday and Friday”, continues the manager.
This day will not be completely normal and the leaders of the Tygre will ensure that the Covid-19 protocol is scrupulously applied because the health situation requires a certain rigor: implementation of hydro-alcoholic gel at the entrance and exit of the stadium, disinfected balls, bottles of their own and compulsory mask for visitors. In any case, the club hopes that this day will be a celebration and that many children will come to swell the ranks of the Tygre soon.
