The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) will announce again on Tuesday how the corona virus is developing in the Netherlands. It is already clear that the number of new positively tested people has increased last week. The strongest increases can be seen in the provinces of South Holland and North Holland, according to the RIVM. Most new infections have been reported in the 20 to 40 age group.
Around 4 p.m., the health institute will report how many positive corona tests, hospitalizations, and deaths have been reported by the regional health services in the past week. On Monday, the RIVM reported 1,300 new infections in one day.
The RIVM previously warned that if the number of new infections in and around large cities continues to rise so fast, new measures are needed. According to the institute, non-compliance with the corona advice on hygiene, keeping your distance and staying at home in case of complaints are possible causes of the rapid rise.
Research by the RIVM shows that nine out of ten people with complaints still go outside.
