Why always charge full price for only new shirts and current transfers? It’s a common comment that both EA and Konami regularly get thrown at when there’s a new part of it FIFA of PES is announced. Because the latter wants to focus this period on a new version for the next-gen consoles that should appear next year, they have chosen to use it this year. PES give it a try: a simple update of shirts and transfers at a lower price. It provides the special name eFootball PES 2021 Season Update and also the chance to see how such an update works.
While the name may suggest otherwise, eFootball PES 2021 Season Update no update for eFootball PES 2020, but definitely a standalone game. That actually means the biggest disadvantage, because it means that your progress in the different modes is lost and you can start over again. This would be a great opportunity to pick up where you left off. For myClub it might make sense, because you don’t want newcomers to be a year behind, but for the Master League, for example, there is really no reason why you shouldn’t be able to continue where you left off.
If we look at what we do get, that’s basically all the content from the previous edition, including the postponed Euro 2020 tournament. That makes the game feel quite complete and offers you more than enough options to be able to take it for another year. In addition, the menus have been given a new lick of paint to give the whole a fresh look.
As mentioned, there is nothing new under the sun in terms of gameplay. Who of PES 2020 will be able to continue immediately. We do see some new animations and celebrations here and there, but where you normally have to get used to a new version every time, that is not the case here. That feels a bit of a shame for us, because making new gameplay elements our own is one of the things we enjoy doing every year. The gameplay on the field is still rock solid and in our eyes it still offers a lot more depth than that of the big competitor.
There is little news to report in terms of licensing, except that both AC Milan and Internazionale have disappeared from the game. It is undoubtedly a stab back from EA, after they lost the license from Juventus last year. Konami did manage to get AS Roma as an exclusive partner, so FIFA this club has also lost. In front of PESplayers, little changes in that sense, because the Romans were also just licensed in the game last year. It shows once again how sorry the licensing war is that EA and Konami are waging, in which mainly the gamers are the victims. Fortunately you are like PESplayer is a bit used to and the problem of missing licenses can easily be solved with an option file.
Whether you should buy this Season Update mainly depends on your wishes. If you play online, it is highly recommended to purchase this new version. All activities and Special Agents in myClub will focus on eFootball PES 2021 so you will miss a lot if you do not move. If you mainly use the offline modes, the question is whether the new transfers and kits outweigh the loss of your progress. eFootball PES 2020. It is true that you will miss any new stadiums and gameplay updates and the option file makers will also focus on the new part. If you are a newcomer, then this affordable version is an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the series.
Ultimately eFootball PES 2021 Season Update just another excellent title, with Konami doing exactly what it promises. The gameplay is still rock solid and for a lower price you can be busy long enough until it is time for the next generation PES running on the most recent Unreal Engine.
We played eFootball PES 2021 Season Update on the PlayStation 4. The game is also available for Xbox One and PC.
