Singer Aija Andrejeva has moved with the theater “uz Tu” a long time ago, probably since she remembers herself, and cultural circles that lead to the theater in Rīga or Liepāja are quite common for her. Liepāja Theater is Aija Andrejeva’s favorite theater, in which she has also participated in the production “Blowing Winds”, where she played the role of Baibiņa for a whole 8 years.

Aija Andrejeva immediately agreed to the cultural date for the opening of the 114th season of the Liepāja Theater, because it is “her theater”, where she feels at home. The last performance that Andrejeva attended also turns out to be at the Liepāja Theater – “Richard III,” which had its premiere shortly before the announcement of the Covid-19 emergency, so this march to the theater is a real celebration!
Marjus Ivaškevičs is the author not only of this play “Mališ”, but also of “Deportees” staged on the stage of Daile Theater in 2014, who were recalled in a cultural circle by Aija Andrejeva and Kristīne Komarovska, saying that it was a strong and unforgettable show and will be “easier”, so you have to prepare for a sharp story in one part in Latvian and Russian.
A play performed by director Dmitry Petrenko, in which the roles can be seen four actors – Karina Tatarinova, Ilze Trukšanis, Mārtiņš Kalits, Kaspars Honors, moved so much that for a while it was not possible to express what was seen in the camera. It was very difficult to talk about it after the show, because it takes time to “digest” it, to think about it, to analyze it in oneself, in one’s thoughts.
The ability of the actors to speak Russian and Latvian, to juggle languages fluently, the poetic language of the show, symbols and strong acting were especially addressed. The text “why do you have ears full of water” came to mind especially .. it was beautifully said about crying and there were more than one place that touched me. Deciding and knowing your destiny is easier than not knowing and continuing to fight.
Aija Andrejeva is currently reading “Goodbye, Atlantis” book about Valentīna Freimanis, so it draws parallels about the time around the Second World War and the hopelessness that surrounds it, but Kristīne Komarovska has just read Inga Gaile’s “Beautiful”, which also calls people saccharified the full range of lives, distorted destinies and emotions. Both decide that the show leaves a strong aftertaste and definitely recommends to see and experience it for everyone.
