As of Monday, PRA Health Sciences from Groningen will start testing a candidate vaccine against the corona virus on a group of 45 test subjects. The research into Janssen Vaccines from Leiden takes 400 days.
The study has three goals, according to PRA: To determine whether lower doses of the vaccine induce immunity, to evaluate potential vaccination schedules at intervals of 1, 2 and 3 months, and to assess the extent to which vaccination leads to possible long-term immunity. After the first vaccination in September, two vaccinations will follow at a later time, for which the participants will return to the research center. Depending on the research group in which you participate, this is after 1 to 3 months and after 5 to 9 months.
From the moment the research was published on the website of PRA Health Sciences, there was great interest in participation. At the moment, sufficient participants have already been found in Groningen. It is still possible to register in Utrecht (UMC) and Leiden (UMC).
