Ludivine Godard is angry. This Thursday, August 20, she had to leave the Auchan hypermarket in Boulogne-sur-Mer while she was shopping with her 19-year-old autistic daughter. The reason ? The latter was unmasked. Despite the medical certificate authorizing her to do so, the security guards at the hypermarket pushed the mother and daughter to the exit. She even specifies that she went to the hypermarket upstream to check that she could continue shopping with her daughter. “We were told there was no problem.“
As she begins to shop, “a security guard comes up to us and asks for my daughter’s age. […] I show her the certificate, she does not deign to read it and tells me to leave the store or take her out.“
Ludivine Godard asks to speak to the chef but he also refuses to read the certificate and “tells us to leave the store.“.
Auchan recognizes “to have made a mistake“
His case is not isolated. “I had the impression that we were plague victims“denounces Valérie Décresse, another customer of this Auchan, in a comment under the publication. She was also refused entry to the store when she was going to do her shopping with her disabled son in a wheelchair.
Auchan, for its part, recognizes “to have made a mistake“and”regret the situation“. They defend themselves from”to do the best since these five months of health crisis “ and point to a “moving legislation“, “clear for a very short time“. They assure that now”the teams are informed“.
However in article 2 of decree n ° 2020-860 of July 10, 2020 prescribing the general measures necessary to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic, it is clearly written “the mask wearing obligations provided for in this decree do not apply to people with disabilities who have a medical certificate justifying this exemption and who implement health measures to prevent the spread of the virus.“
And the decree extending the wearing of masks to all businesses, administrations and banks dates from July 17, it keeps as framework the decree of July 10 and therefore its article 2.
