According to politicians’ promises, the RTV subscription was to be abolished, and instead further increases are being prepared. Recently, Poczta Polska started to prosecute non-paying persons by imposing penalties on them, their amount is also to be increased.
The RTV subscription is expected to increase soon
The RTV subscription is to be more expensive from 2021. According to Wirtualna Polska, an increase in the subscription fee for a TV set may amount to as much as PLN 20 per year (approximately PLN 1.80 per month), and PLN 6 per radio per year (PLN 0.5 per month). Not only those who pay it monthly, but also those who pay it in advance, will pay more. Although they are still entitled to a 10% reduction. and so the costs will be higher than in 2020.
The last increase in the RTV subscription was in 2015. Now the government has decided to introduce a new pricelist to the public media. How much we pay depends on the period we pay for in advance. The price list is as follows:
For the radio receiver:
- PLN 14.60 for two months
- 21.60 bad for three months
- PLN 42.80 for six months
- PLN 81 for twelve months
For a television set or radio and television set:
- PLN 47.50 for two months
- PLN 70.60 for three months
- PLN 139.70 for six months
- PLN 264.60 for twelve months

The increase will also apply to penalties for failure to pay the subscription, which Poczta Polska has recently started to monitor more closely. There is more and more information about requests to pay for receivers. As can be read in Art. 5 of the Subscription Fees Act, the penalty amounts to 30 times the monthly fee applicable from the date of using an unregistered receiver.
Due to this form of the act, the increase in the RTV subscription will translate into the amount of the fine. Until now, it was PLN 681, due to the multiplication of the rate of PLN 22.70. From 2021, it will be over PLN 50 more, i.e. exactly PLN 735.
