“Like a war zone”: They search for the missing while the flames continue to sweep the West Coast | Univision News United States

Numerous active wildfires continue to ravage communities in the states of California, Oregon and Washington, killing at least 26 people, while several dozen remain missing.

The images and photos of the areas engulfed by flames are truly heartbreaking and apocalyptic.

The smoke has made the air quality very unhealthy, which can irritate the lungs, cause inflammation and affect the immune system – a real problem amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Trapped in the middle of an Oregon forest is the small town of Vida, where Nailah Garner and her husband had to flee last week.

“We didn’t know what to grab. We didn’t pack. Who knows what to do when you’re going through this?” the woman told CNN. A friend told her by phone that her house had been engulfed in flames. The couple has lost everything.

“Everything is gone, and it looks like a war zone,” he declared.
