Rally on Dam against the execution of Iranian wrestler Navid Afkari | Inland

The sportsman was sentenced to death for allegedly stabbing a security officer to death during anti-government protests in 2018. State media announced the execution on Saturday.

There was an international outcry against the death sentence for Afkari. He is said to have made a confession under the pressure of torture, which he later retracted. The Association of Iranian Academics in the Netherlands also states that Afkari made a confession under duress.
