Malang City Task Force Asks Residents to Beware of Happy Hypoxia in COVID-19 Patients

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Handling Task Force COVID-19 Malang City stated that residents of Malang City, East Java, were asked to be aware of the symptoms of happy hypoxia, or silent hypoxemia in patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Spokesperson for the Malang City COVID-19 Handling Task Force Husnul Muarif said that, until now there has been no case of happy hypoxia in Malang City. However, his party still asked residents to be aware of this condition.

“So far there have been no cases, hopefully it will not happen because the mobility of Malang City residents is also high. For this reason, people must also be vigilant,” said Husnul, in Malang City, East Java, Saturday (12/9/2020).

Husnul explained, happy hypoxia is a condition of lack of oxygen levels in the blood but is not accompanied by any complaints or symptoms for patients who are confirmed positive for the Corona virus.

In some cases, the patient appears to be fine and slightly short of breath, even though the oxygen saturation level is 70-80 percent. Symptoms of hypoxia were only felt after the patient developed severe pneumonia.

In case of positive confirmation COVID-19Husnul continued, patients have several categories, ranging from mild, moderate, severe to critical symptoms. Generally, COVID-19 patients have symptoms of pneumonia or pneumonia.

“Judging from the word, happy is happy, hypoxia is lack of oxygen. This is one of the manifestations of COVID-19, because people feel there are no symptoms,” explained Husnul as quoted by Antara.

Husnul explained, the condition of happy hypoxia is different from pneumonia or pneumonia in positive patients with COVID-19. Happy hypoxia does not cause any complaints from patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Husnul added, patients with happy hypoxia can continue their activities as usual. However, suddenly someone’s oxygen demand will be hampered, due to exposure to the corona virus.

“The lack of oxygen is one of the things caused by exposure to COVID-19,” said Husnul.
