Graphic criticized by fans, Ubisoft India refused limited funding for the Prince of Persia remake project

After months of rumors, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is finally announced officially. The reaction from fans was unfortunately not very positive. Many say that the visuals offered by this remake look bad and the last generation. Compared to other existing remakes, what POP: Sands of Time Remake has to offer doesn’t impress fans and gamers in general.

This remake was developed by Ubisoft India, a studio branch that previously served only as a support studio for large projects undertaken by other branches. So that many people speculate that this project received less funding compared to other Ubisoft projects, and some also feel that the studio still lacks the experience to fully manage a project. Ubisoft India denied the two things in an interview Mako reactor.

“No, it’s not a matter of time or money. For us at Ubisoft, quality is the most important thing and it is something we have been thinking about from the start. The project has been in development for 2.5 years. We have nearly 170 people working on this project and not to mention investing in infrastructure that helps with game development. There is no reduction in funds or game development time, ”explained Sashi Menon, Ubisoft India production manager, dismissing the issue of limited funds.

This remake is made with the Anvil Engine, the technology known as the basis of most Assassin’s Creed games. Seeing that this engine is more for open world games and not linear games with a time rewind mechanism, developers are facing several challenges to make this remake.

Pierre Sylvain-Gires, the main director of this project, explained that what was shown at Ubisoft Forward yesterday was their vision and it was intentional from the start. This is done so that the game doesn’t lose the feel of the original version and they want the remake to be deemed “too much like Assassin’s Creed”.

“We decided to create a unique visual style to make this game different from other games. This is not Assassin’s Creed, not Prince of Persia from 2008. This remake has to be unique, ”said Syvain-Gires. “Our main challenge is to create a game that we want to play because of nostalgia, but we also have to bring modern ideas to it. It is important to maintain a balance between these two things [bagi remake ini]. “

Despite the criticism received on the inaugural trailer, the developers seem to be keeping the visual style now. But anything can happen before the release date.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on January 21, 2021.
