Video of Big Bang Shakes Jordan Military Base

AMMAN – Series explosion rocked the military ammunition depot in Ghabawi, Jordan. The flames from the explosion lit up the night sky outside the city of Zarqa, northeast of Amman, the country’s capital.

Local media, Petra, quoted Jordan’s Minister of Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, as reporting that the explosion occurred at an unusable mortar bomb warehouse in the Ghabawi area east of Zarqa and was caused by an electrical short circuit.

“According to the Military General Command, so far there have been no fatalities as a result of the explosion,” said Adaileh, adding that the ammunition depot was in an uninhabited area as reported by Russia Today, Friday (11/9/2020).

Locals reported broken windows and seeing flames licking the night sky.

Some social media users were quick to compare Zarqa’s explosion to the blast at the port of Beirut, Lebanon last month, when a warehouse filled with ammonium nitrate destroyed the port and caused at least 190 deaths and 6,500 injuries.

However, the local government said there were no known victims of the incident.
