“The pleasure comes directly from God,” he noted, adding that it is neither Catholic nor Christian, but simply “divine.”
The Pontiff stressed that the church has always condemned “inhuman, rude and vulgar pleasure”, but has always accepted the simple, human and moral. According to him, “an exaggerated morality” that denies feelings is “a misreading of the Christian message.” He believes that pleasure in eating is necessary for a person to remain healthy, and sexual pleasure contributes to the fact that love becomes more beautiful and serves as a guarantee of continuation of the species.
