An employee of a clothing store has been suspected of filming, for at least a year, women in the fitting room of the establishment, in a shopping center in Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil.
According to the G1 website, the man confessed to the police the crime and said he filmed eight women in the changing room. The suspect’s cell phone has already been apprehended and will be investigated.
The case became known after a young woman reported on social media that she was using a store dressing room when she noticed that she was being filmed by an employee who positioned her cell phone under the door. After calling the store manager, the young woman, Isabelle Pacheco, who was accompanied by her father, also called the Military Police.
In an interview with G1, Isabelle said that, despite calling the police, she did not feel assisted, since she was instructed to register the complaint at a police station and the cell phone used by the employee was not seized at the time.
The young woman says that the person in charge of the store took the man’s cell phone and showed the empty gallery, but this one claims that in the area of the deleted images there were at least 30 videos of several women, recorded on different occasions.
“There was the person’s face and she was changing clothes. But they didn’t seize his cell phone. I’m sorry to say, but the police failed to do so, ”he said, adding that he ended up complaining at a police station.
“At the same time that we end up feeling exposed, we lose our privacy. It is justice, not only for me, but for other women. I want justice to be done and for him to pay for what he did, ”he said.
The case is being investigated. The man gave statements to the police this Wednesday, and the cell phone was seized the same day, to try to recover the files that were deleted.
The store said it regretted what had happened and said it strongly rejected any and all acts of disrespect and offense to privacy. “The person mentioned is no longer part of the company’s staff,” he informed.
