BANDUNG, KOMPAS.com – The Covid-19 vaccine clinical trial team from Sinovac, China, explained about the news circulating about Covid-19 vaccine volunteers who were exposed to the corona virus.
In fact, these volunteers have received Covid-19 vaccinations.
“The volunteer after receiving the first injection (unknown vaccine or placebo) traveled outside the city,” said the Head of the Clinical Trial Research Team for Phase 3 of the Covid-19 Vaccine from the Faculty of Medicine Unpad, Prof. Kusnandi Rusmil in a release on Thursday (10/9 / 2020).
Kusnandi explained, at the second injection visit, volunteers were clinically healthy and were given a second injection.

The next day, volunteers underwent a nasopharyngeal swab examination program from the Health Office because they had a history of being out of town.
The officer took the material from the nose smear and then sent it to the BSL2 laboratory with a positive result. These results are conveyed to the concerned.
The person is now in self-isolation and is closely monitored every day. During 9 days of monitoring, the volunteers were in good condition.
“So, the results of a positive nose smear examination did not come from the research team but the results from the government’s nasopharyngeal swab examination program,” he said.
Kusnandi reminded that in clinical trials there were two groups, namely those who received placebo and vaccines.
This clinical trial is conducted on principle observer blind or disguised, so it is not known which one got the placebo and which got the vaccine.
“Therefore, all volunteers are urged to apply the preventive protocol recommended by the government,” he said.
