Ronald Bell passed away in the US Virgin Islands at the age of 68. Bell was the co-founder of Kool and the Gang, a group that scored numerous hits, especially in the 1970s.

Bell founded the jazz and funk band Kool and the Gang in the early 1960s with his brother Robert and friends Dennis Thomas, Robert Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown and Ricky West. Numerous hits such as Celebration, Jungle Boogie and Ladies Night followed, especially in the 1970s. But the peak came in 1978 when the band released the soundtrack for the movie Saturday night fever, starring John Travolta, won a Grammy. Two years ago, the group was finally inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
