Another curfew on St. Eustatius • New day record infections in India

As of today, a curfew applies again on St. Eustatius. No one is allowed to go out on the street without permission between 6:30 in the evening until 6 in the morning. The government of the Caribbean island hopes in this way to prevent the spread of the corona virus. Last week, four new infections were detected. As far as is known, seven inhabitants of the island are now infected with the virus, out of a population of 3000 people.

Last Monday, it was revealed that a health worker who had traveled to St. Eustatius specifically to explain how to conduct corona tests, was infected with the virus. A day later, three people tested positive who also work in health care. All three had been in contact with the instructor. The island then asked the Ministry of Health for help.

Strict rules also apply on St. Eustatius. Restaurants are only allowed to deliver, in supermarkets only ten people are allowed in at a time and a maximum of 1 person per household can do shopping.

141 new infections were registered on the neighboring island of Aruba on Wednesday. Never before has there been such a big increase in one day.
