Woodward writes in the book how Donald Trump was informed by his advisers at the end of January about the seriousness and danger of the new corona virus. During that period, the American president did not miss an opportunity to make it clear to the Americans that the “Chinese virus” posed no threat and did not pose a threat to the US.

And yet, the president continued to publicly deny that the virus was dangerous. He also postponed measures as long as he could. When he called Woodward again on March 19, he admitted that he had deliberately minimized it and thus deliberately misled the Americans. “Not to cause panic,” Trump said.
That can be read in Woodward’s new book, Rage titled, which will be released next week and is built around 18 interviews he conducted from the president between December and July.

The book also includes former government employees who have few good words for Trump. And according to Woodward, former intelligence chief Dan Coats thinks Vladimir Putin has harmful information about Trump that he would blackmail him with. Although Coats has no proof of that.
The book also examines the relationship between the US and North Korea. For example, Washington could have come close to nuclear war in 2017. Trump says that he has had a new (nuclear) weapon system built. According to Woodward, this is also confirmed by other sources, but details are lacking. “We have things you have never seen or heard of before.
