The National Film Center is allocating one million for the production of two series

The National Cinema Center has distributed one million euros for the production of two new Latvian series.

Using the funds allocated to the film industry to overcome the Covid-19 crisis, a series about 1930 will become a series of Latvian journalists and publishers Emilija Benjamins. And a screening of the detective novel “Look for a Woman” will be filmed. For the first time, the National Film Center has distributed such large funding for such projects. The competition experts say that the project’s creative teams and scenarios raise hopes for high-quality cinema.

“Of course, this funding for these two series is unprecedented funding, such a level of funding has never been allocated to the series of independent Latvia. Both of these supported projects are internationally competitive in terms of the content and trends that viewers are currently demanding in the world, ”says Ģirts Līcis, a series competition expert.

Both multi-series films are expected to premiere in the second half of next year.
