A former co-detainee of Lori Vallow has made some revelations about the attitude of this mother, accused of the disappearance of her children in Idaho, whose bodies were discovered buried at her new husband.
She knew her fellow inmate at the heart of one of the most publicized criminal cases in recent years in the United States. So, the one who calls herself Missy Cook (a pseudonym for security reasons) in the “East Idaho News” took notes to tell it all. On these notebooks, Missy Cook transcribed conversations she says she had with the mother accused of the disappearance of her two children. At the time the two shared the same cell, the bodies of JJ, 7, and Tylee, 17, had not been discovered. They were finally released last June, after excavations carried out in the garden of Chad Daybell, Lori Vallow’s new husband. However, she is still not charged with homicide.

In an attempt to gain her confidence, Missy Cook has never directly addressed the issue of her children. According to her, Lori Vallow was friendly and approachable, but never showed any signs of sadness, grief or disappointment about her situation. She was even happy to have been extradited from the Hawaii prison – where she was arrested – to Idaho where she lived. “She said the prison there was terrible. She kept saying how much better it was here and how amazing the food was, ”says Missy Cook. Lori Vallow felt all the better because she knew all the attention was on her, in the country. “She was aware of it. She said: “We have the death of Kobe Bryant, there is the Covid-19, but no, we are talking about me. I’m the one making the headlines. I’m more important than all that stuff.” She knew she was on the front page and she loved it ”.
“Everyone would like to know but that is none of their business”
Lori Vallow also hoped to play with her physique to convince the judges to let her out on bail. “We’ll see if it’s all worth a million dollars,” she allegedly said one day, running her hand over her body. Missy Cook also remembers the mother, having her oldest son on the phone. And while he implored her to tell her where the two children were, she still refused to answer him. Instead, she preferred to refer to the Bible. “Everyone would like to know but that’s none of the business. God does not judge me and will not. The prophet says not to go on social networks, so don’t do it, ”she reportedly replied to her son. The investigation revealed that Lori Vallow was a member of a Mormon sect preparing for Jesus’ return to Earth and the end of the world. Chad Daybell, her new husband, is one of the preachers. The couple has, since the start of the affair, still refused to comment on the disappearance of JJ and Tylee. While the police gave them an ultimatum, they never collaborated, united by their secrecy. But according to Missy Cook, it’s highly likely that Lori Vallow will end up turning on Chad Daybell, accusing him of burying her children at his home. “I too would turn on him to save my ass,” comments Missy Cook.
Other mysteries to solve
JJ and Tylee, had not been found since September, but it was not until November 26 that the police were alerted by relatives concerned that they had not heard from JJ. Faced with investigators, Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow claimed the child was staying with a family friend in Arizona. When the police returned the next day to execute a search warrant, the two had fled the home. Police said the couple have said to witnesses that Tylee on her side was dead several months ago. Police had given the mother a deadline to say where her children are, but she did not respond. The couple were found in Hawaii. She was then extradited to Idaho. The bodies were found in June.
Another series of mysteries surrounds the death of the two children including the death of Charles Vallow, Lori Vallow’s husband, killed by the latter’s brother, who had invoked self-defense. Disturbingly, Alex Cox – who died of pulmonary embolism in December – had in the past been convicted of threats against one of Lori Vallow’s other husbands, Joseph Ryan, Tylee Ryan’s father. Joseph Ryan died in 2018 from a heart attack. As for Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell’s wife, she died just two weeks before the latter’s remarriage to Lori Vallow, in circumstances which remain to be clarified.
