Relegated to National 2, Gazélec d’Ajaccio barely came close to administrative relegation to National 3. But after seeing his appeal accepted, the Corsican club intends to restart lower on solid foundations.
Gazélec d’Ajaccio has had a very dark season. And his epilogue could have turned to the descent into hell. The Corsicans saw the end of the championships buried their relegation to National 2. Because after 25 days of National, the GAFC was in 17th place in the championship, synonymous with relegation. The club could have seen its misfortune worsen when the Federal Club Control Commission decided on June 30 to administratively relegate Gazélec to National 3, but the body finally reversed its decision after the club appealed.
Change of management, change of coach
The offseason was also animated by the overhaul of the club. Gazélec has had a facelift internally, both within its staff and within its management. Shareholders entered the club’s capital, including Mathieu Messina-Arrighi, the president. David Ducourtioux, former player and club captain, has been appointed head coach while Jérôme Le Moigne has been appointed sports director.
