Nick and Simon are, as can be seen in a shared by Kees Tol video, surprised by their idol Paul Simon. The two recently performed a Simon & Garfunkel song, which was filmed by actor Woody Harrelson who is Simon’s best friend.
Harrelson was in Brielle in July, where the Volendam duo gave a performance. The Hunger Games-The actor was there together with his Dutch neighbor, who both live in Hawaii and were visiting family in the South Holland city.
Nick and Simon performed the Simon & Garfunkel song, among others Homeward Bound performed, which was filmed by Harrelson’s neighbor.
Afterwards, the duo was invited by Harrelson to chat at the table. “He said plainly that his best friend is called Paul Simon”, says Simon Keizer. The actor said he wanted to send the video of their performance to him. “I thought it was a bit unreal,” says Nick Schilder about this.
‘Difficult to understand’
Harrelson later emailed Simon’s response to Schilder. “I saw a video of you and it sounded really good,” says the singer-songwriter.
“It sounded like Simon & Garfunkel.” “I really didn’t know what happened to me”, is Schilder’s reaction. “That he heard us sing and thought it really sounded like Simon & Garfunkel. That is inconceivable”, Keizer adds.
Earlier this year, Schilder en Keizer made the television program with Kees Tol Nick, Simon & Kees: Homeward Bound, in which they plunged into the lives of their musical idols. “As far as we are concerned, we have come full circle”, says Tol.
At the end of August, the musical duo announced that they would release an album in November, inspired by the sound of Simon & Garfunkel.
