Shop at Shopee to Zoom Subscriptions Now 10 Percent Taxable Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Directorate General of Taxation has appointed twelve companies that meet the criteria as value added tax (VAT) collectors on digital goods and services sold to customers in Indonesia.

Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo said, through this appointment, as of October 1, 2020, business actors will begin to collect VAT on digital products and services they sell to consumers in Indonesia.

“The amount of VAT that customers must pay is 10 percent of the pre-tax price, and must be included on the receipt or invoice issued by the seller as proof of VAT collection,” said Suryo in a written statement, Monday (9/8/2020).

Suryo said, DGT continues to identify and establish communication with a number of other companies that sell digital products abroad to Indonesia.

This was done for socialization and to find out the readiness of the company so that it is hoped that in the near future the number of business actors appointed as VAT collectors for digital products will continue to grow.

To date, the number of companies appointed as VAT collectors to date is 28 business entities.

“Especially for marketplaces that are domestic taxpayers who are appointed as collectors, VAT collection is only carried out on the sale of digital goods and services by foreign sellers who sell through the marketplace,” Suryo explained.

The 12 digital companies that have recently been appointed as VAT collectors are as follows:

• Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd.

• Mojang AB

• Novi Digital Entertainment Pte. Ltd.

• PCCW Vuclip (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.

• Skype Communications SARL

• Twitter Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.

• Twitter International Company

• Zoom Video Communications, Inc.

• PT Jingdong Indonesia First

• PT Shopee International Indonesia
