Originally it was about recognition of that fatherhood, but that has not been discussed since January. Albert acknowledged that he is indeed the father of the artist Delphine, born in 1968 from his extramarital relationship with Sybille de Sélys Longchamps. The result of a DNA test also gave him no choice.
But with that recognition not all loose ends have been tied together. The judges now have to determine which surname Delphine will be given Boël, because the surname Boël is incorrect. That’s the name of her mother’s ex-husband. Will it be ‘From Belgium’ or a variant on it? It must also be determined whether Delphine, as a royal daughter, will become a princess with the predicate ‘royal highness’.
