The first racket of Latvian men’s tennis Ernests Gulbis on Monday suffered a loss in Kitzbühel ATP World Tour 250 Series Tournament Qualifiers.
The swan, who is in the ATP rank in 158th place, with the result 6-7 (3: 7), 1-6 gave way to the German Jannik Hanfman, who is in the 118th position and in the qualification with the 11th number.
Gulbis will receive six ATP points for participation in the first qualifying round. To reach the main tournament, it is necessary to overcome two rounds of selection.
It has already been reported that in recent weeks the Swan in the Czech Republic lost three Challenger tournaments in the second match, all giving way to Russian Aslan Karacev.
This Challenger competition for Gulbi was the first official tournament since the Davis Cup duel with Egypt, which took place in Latvia at the beginning of March. At the end of July, he participated in the Estonian-Latvian match in Tallinn, winning both singles and doubles.
Before the Davis Cup, Swan triumphed in France in the Po “Challenger” tournament, winning his fifth title and the first since 2007. Also at the beginning of the year, he successfully competed in the Australian Open, where he qualified and competed until the third round.
