The ten cloistered nuns who reside in the Lasarte-Oria Brígidas Convent have tested positive for COVID-19, although all of them are “asymptomatic”, the mayor of this Guipuzcoan town, Agustín Valdivia, has informed EFE.
Valdivia has explained, in statements to EFE, that it is a very controlled “outbreak” that has resulted in ten new positive cases being confirmed in the last 24 hours in this municipality of just over 18,200 inhabitants.
The first mayor has specified that the ten nuns who have tested positive are “asymptomatic” and he explained that among them there is some older, although most are young or middle-aged.
Valdivia has launched a message of “tranquility” to the residents of Lasarte-Oria, since the focus is “very localized”, as well as the contacts that these cloistered nuns may have.
The mayor has asked the Lasartearras to continue as up to now, complying “commendably” with the health recommendations to wear masks and respect safety distances.
