54% of Latvian companies’ websites are not adapted for mobile devices :: Dienas Bizness

Although on average more than one million Latvians use mobile phones to browse the Internet every month, more than half (54%) of Latvian small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) executives admit that their corporate website is not adapted to mobile devices.

This is revealed by the study of the mobile operator “Tele2”.

The main reasons why the website is not adapted for mobile devices are the arguments that customers are already coping well with the current version of the website, have not had time to do so and it is expensive.

The SME survey also found that almost all entrepreneurs (90%) for whom a company’s website design is adapted to mobile devices consider continuous availability to be the biggest benefit, with 22% saying it is a way to get more customers, 19% as The benefit is emphasized by customer recognition, while 12% of entrepreneurs have indicated that it generates more income for them.

“The data show that nine out of ten users of our basic tariff plan use the Internet on their phones. It has become an indispensable helper in solving various everyday issues – including purchasing goods and services, so it is important for entrepreneurs to follow these technological and population trends. For example, in July this year, people used the phone more often than the computer to browse the Internet, as we have seen, for example, the number of users of the Tele2 mobile app has increased by 500% in the last six months, as customers find it faster and easier to solve In addition, it is a huge benefit for the company – it is an opportunity to improve customer service, which is a very important factor in the conditions of fierce competition, “says Raivo Rosts, Commercial Director of Tele2.

Looking to the future, only 6% of SME managers admit that they will definitely adapt their website to mobile devices – mostly commercial companies. In turn, 55% admit that they will not do it, which is a surprisingly large number.

In order to find out the opinion of Latvian small and medium-sized enterprise managers about the adaptation of their company’s website to mobile devices, the mobile operator “Tele2” conducted a survey in cooperation with “BERG Research” in August this year, and 227 respondents participated.
