On September 5 and 6, a significant motorsport event took place on the Mūsa track in Latvia – “Mūsa Thriller 2020”. Intense fights in the competition were ensured by 210 participants in three disciplines of the cross-country commission: rallycross, autocross and folk race, the organizers informed.

“Mūsa Trilleris” for the Latvian Rallycross Championship and Cup riders was the final stage of the 2020 competition season. The best of the stage, as well as the season champions and cup winners in eight test classes were determined: “Xtreme cross-country cards”, “BMW RX 3000”, “Junior 1000”, “CK 650 cross-country cards”, “Lada RX”, “Super 1600”, ‘Touring Car ”,“ Open RX ”.
Throughout the season, the athletes and fans were not surprised by the young athlete, rallycross debutant Maija Staken, who competed in the “Touring car” class – in this race together with 10 strong and experienced men. The 14-year-old girl celebrated in the final race of the season with a victory, accomplishing the incredible – won the 3rd place in the overall rating of this year’s season.
“The end of the rallycross season in Bauska is my first race on this type of track, it was full of surprises,” admitted Stakena. If at the beginning of the competition we were convinced that this time we would not be able to fight for the podium, then thanks to the excellent cooperation with the spotter we have won the “Touring car” class. Next season we will continue to gain experience and work on both the technical readiness of the car and the improvement of my driving skills. In the 2021 season, we will return even stronger and continue to fight for victory. There is strength in the team – thanks to the family, coaches and all the supporters, you helped me to do the incredible ”
For autocross participants, this was the penultimate race before the big final, which will take place in early October on the Brenguli track. Athletes admitted that in Mūsa they feel like fish in the water – the track is perfectly suited to the specifics of autocross. There were intense battles for two days, as some participants were in the mood to win championships before the end of the competition season.
VAZ Klasika First place winner Jānis Linde is a hardened VAZ rider who does not allow himself or his competitors to relax. Last year’s victory in the overall rating of the season puts a high bar, so in the 2020 season the athlete fought not to lose the title of champion this year as well – as a result he won the highest podium step in Bauska, and secured the season one stage before the autocross race.
Jānis Linde, rider of the Latvian Autocross Championship: “After a bad start to the season, we were not sure if it would be possible to participate in all stages of the competition and start in Bauska as well. We have replaced five engines in this incomplete but powerful season, so now the emotions are indescribable – thank you to the team for their work. ”
In this race, the representatives of the Folkreis discipline have set two new records – the number of participants, as well as the number of car purchase applications. 67 athletes applied for the competition, but due to various technical reasons, 63 entered the competition, which makes this competition the place where the most folk racing drivers have been seen so far. The “sweetest” part of the folk trip is the car purchase process, the record in “Mūsa Thiller” – 150 applications for 22 cars.

Next weekend we will start the 5th stage of the race on the track “Līgo”, but we will watch the end of the Fokreisa Summer Cup season on October 4 in Brenguļi.
