Soon after midnight in Birmingham on Sunday, people were struck in four different places in the city center in 90 minutes.
A 23-year-old man died from his injuries and seven other people were injured, including one man and one woman.
Police believe that the attacker selected the victims at random and that these crimes are not related to terrorism.
